Volunteer Opportunity for Spring 2023

After School Buddies is in search of a couple of more female Big Buddy mentors to serve our group of 3rd grade girls for the spring term of Study Buddies. We’d love to find 1-2 adult women and 2 high school girls to join us on Wednesday afternoons from 2:30-5:00 until May 31st.

Study Buddies meets at Antioch Church across the street from Bend High School. The program includes lessons on social and emotional skill development, tutoring time for academic success and community and family outreach projects. Adult volunteers must pass a background check. The program meets upstairs so mobility is important.

Elk Meadow and Buckingham Buddies Are Here!

Two of our three elementary programs start up this week and we have room in both for more 4th or 5th grade girls. Be sure to visit the Programs 2018_19 page to enroll your daughter. Juniper ASB for 4th and 5th grade girls starts Nov 26. The THRIVE! middle school program starts Wednesday Nov 28, Pre-enrollment is required for all girls. Teen Big Buddies and adult volunteers are still needed for both ot the programs that start later in Nov.

Fabulous Fiesta Camp is Almost Here

In less than 5 days more than 75 participants and volunteers will gather for ASB’s 12th annual camp. Fabulous Fiesta is the 2017 theme with each of the four Mexican “City groups” preparing to “celebrate change”. From games to an amazing array of Mexican food, to songs and Zumba to crafts and more – it is sure to be another camp to remember. Snow Still Causing Trouble in Bend – Jan 18 Thrive! Middle School program cancelled AGAIN!

January 10, 2017

As luck would have it – the excess snowfall in early 2017 has made our roads quite challenging to navigate and the roofs of some schools at risk of collapsing. Due to the continued school closure of Realms and Pilot Butte Middle School this week – the ASB Thrive! Middle School program is cancelled on Wed Jan 18th. These two middle schools that have girls attending the program are still closed and the other schools have a longer day this Wed. HOPEFULLY we will see girls enrolled in ALL PROGRAMS next week with the exception of Buckingham Buddies. That program is now scheduled to start on Monday January 30.

At this time we are planning to meet at JUNIPER School this Thurs Jan 19th as normally scheduled. Girls attending the ELK MEADOW program on Tuesdays should plan to attend next Tue Jan 24th.
